Dr. Martin Lewison is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Management at Farmingdale State College’s School of Business in New York, where he teaches courses in strategy, marketing, business history, and theme parks and tourism.
His research efforts focus mainly on market pricing and capacity strategy in the global attractions industry. He has also done research in the area of business ethics. His work has been published in International Journal of Leisure and Tourism Management, Journal of Business Ethics, Research in Ethical Issues in Organizations, and other publications. He has consulted professionally for theme parks and vendors in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. He has spoken at IAAPA Expo and at other international conferences. His attractions industry commentary has appeared in media such as the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Orlando Sentinel, and on national radio such as Morning Edition and Marketplace.
Dr. Lewison earned a Bachelor degree in Economics from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in Business from the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Lewison is also a dedicated roller coaster and theme park field researcher, which earned him the nickname “Professor Roller Coaster” in the New York Times. As of this writing, he has ridden 2198 different roller coasters at 853 different amusement facilities in 37 different countries.
